A differential diffusion equation was derived for multiphase media. For the case of a linear adsorption isotherm the diffusion coefficient does not depend on concentration. The numerical diffusion coefficients for Sr/sup 90/ in strongly adsorbing soil and in quartz sand were measured. It was found that the distribution coefficient for Sr/sup 90/in humid soil is considerably smaller than in a water suspension of the same soil. (R.V.J.)
