Sorption of Ce/sup 144/ by two types of soils (black earth and podzolic level soil) was studied in various complexing salt solutions. The sorption of Ce/ sup 144/ in saltless alkali solution is very weak due to Ce/sup 3+/ hydrolysis and complexing into low-sorption forms. Further analysis indicated trilon-B, sodium citrate, and nitric acid are the best Ce/sup 144/ desorbers. (R.V.J.)
