NEUTRINO ASTRONOMY

Journal Article · · Intern. Sci. and Technol.
OSTI ID:4805232
Discussion is given on the discovery and detection of the neutrino and aspects of neutrino astronomy now that it is recognized that neutrinos can affect the evolution of stars. For stars whose interior temperature exceeds about 600 million degrees, a new neutrino production process is proposed: the annihilation of electron-antineutrino pairs. This new mechanism radically alters the view of how a star becomes a supernova. (P.C.H.)
