URANIUM AND THORIUM IN THE OLDER PLUTONIC ROCKS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

Journal Article · · U.S. Geol. Survey. Profess. Papers
OSTI ID:4805186

Chemical and spectrochemical data relating to the distribution of Th and U in three older series of plutonic rocks in New Hampshire are summarized. The Th: U ratio for these rocks was in the expected ranges for calc-alkaline pjutons. Much lower ratios for pegmatltes compared to Aplites indicatcd that the two rock types belong to different fractions of the parent magma. Neocrystallization during metamorphism apparently caused a redistribution of U and Th. (M.C.G.)
