SUPERHEATED STEAM AT INDIAN POINT

Journal Article · · Heat. Eng.
OSTI ID:4804743
The superheaters of the Indian Point nuclear-electric generating station are described along with associated equipment. The two separately oil-fired radiant-convectmon type superheaters will superheat saturated 450 deg F steam from the reactor to 1000 deg F to increase the output of 163 Mw from the reactor to a total gross plant output of 275 Mw. This feature of the nation's first nuclear-powered steamelectric generating station to utilize separately-fired superheated steam aids the plant in reducing the costs to develop economical electrical generation from nuclear power. Some of the design features of the plant are described with regards to electric generating equipment. (N.W.R.)
