OSTI ID:4804627
Nuclear plates are exposed to 200-Mev Ne/sup 20/. The reaction cross section is calculated for each number of prongs from statistics of 1000 stars. The excitation functions are given. The maximum of the prong distribution is around 4 prongs. The ratio of the number of ALPHA tracks to proton tracks is approxiniately 1.6 for reactions with heavy nuclei and increases with the prong number from 2.5 to 6 for reactions with light nuclei. The discrimination between ALPHA particles and protons is made with diluted Ilford C2 emulsions. (auth)
