GAMMA-RAY BRANCHING OF ENERGY LEVELS IN $sup 24$Mg FROM THE $sup 23$Na(p,$gamma$$)$$sup 24$Mg REACTION

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The gamma spectra at six Na/sup 23/(p, gamma )Mg/sup 24/ resonances in the 300 to 750 kev proton energy region are investigated with scintillation spectrometers. From single spectra, coincidence spectra, and sum-coincidence spectra, the gamma branchings of the resonance levels and of eighteen lower Mg/ sup 24/ levels are obtained. At most resonances a 1.63Mev gamma ray is observed, from which the relative intensity of the Na/sup 23/(p, alpha /sub 1/)Ne/sup 20/ decay can be found. Thick target gamma yields are measured, from which the resonance strengths are obtained. (auth)
