ON THE CALCULATION OF THE AGE OF THE EARTH CRUST WITH THE RUBIDIUM- STRONTIUM METHOD (in Russian)
The age of the earth's crust was calculated according to the usual formula, using the following data: lambda Rb/sup 87/ = 1.39 x 10/sup -11/ year/ sup -1/, Rb/sup 85//Rb/sup 87/ = 2.59, recent ratio Sr/sup 87/ Sr (average from data of various laboratories) is 0.0704, the ratio Sr/sup 87//Sr in the protogenic (meteorite) strontium is 0.0675, the abundance of Rb in the crust of the earth is 0.0072%, the abundance of Sr is 0.045%. The value of the crust age (4.5 el temperatures 1.0) x l0/sup 9/ years was obtained. According to the change of the Sr/sup 87//Sr ratio in sedimentary rocks the age of the earth's crust is (5.1 el temperatures 0.6) x l0/sup 9/ years. The average value according to two calculation methods is (4.8 el temperatures 0.8) x 10/sup 9/. (auth)
