RECENT ADVANCES IN THE SEPARATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSURANIUM ELEMENTS

Discussion is given on various methods such as precipitation, solvent extraction, pyrometallurgy and volatilization, ion exchange, and recoil separations for separating transuranium elements. Special attention is given to the separation of neptunium and plutonium. Analytical methods discussed are graviraetric, volumetric, electrometric, spectrophotometric, x-ray, naass spectrometric, and radiochemical. l91 references are included. (P.C.H.)
