FURTHER OBSERVATIONS ON THE SEX RATIO IN THE OFFSPRING OF IRRADIATED MALE BIRDS

Journal Article · · Folia Biologica (Prague) (Czechoslovakia)
OSTI ID:4803544
Four male White Leghorn chickens were irradiated with a gonad dose of 600 r. After six weeks the birds were placed in separate runs, each with 10 to 13 nonirradiated females and studies were made of the offspring. A total of 3141 chicks hatched out, 1641 of which were males. The shift in the sex ratio after irradiation of male birds was found to lie within the limits of 1.10/sup -5/ to 8.10/sup -5/ per 1 r. (C.H.)
