DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM USING N-BENZOYLPHENYLHYDROXYLAMINE

Journal Article · · Talanta (England)

A new method was developed for the quantitative precipitation of zirconium with N-benzoylphenylhydroxylamine. The influence of different mineral acids, tartaric acid, and hydrogen peroxide on the completeness of the precipitation was studied. Precipitation of zirconium in the presence of other elements was also investigated. It was found that zirconium can be separated from iron, aluminum, chromium, titanium, niobium, and tantalum. The composition of zirconium benzoylphenylhydroxylaminate was determined. The precipitate separated from a strong acid solution corresponds to the formula Zr(BPHA)/sub 4/. (auth)
