Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectrum of HDO

BS>The proton magnetic resonance spectrum of the distinct species HDO was observed in dilute solutions of H₂O and D₂O in carefully purified organic solvents. The H₂O triplet is centered 0.030 plus or minus 0.003 ppm upfield from the H₂O resonance. The proton-deuteron spin-- spin coupling constant AHD is 1.1 plus or minus 0.1 cps. Approximate theories which provide explanations for the coupling constant and chemical shift are discussed. (auth)
