The subsonic flow of an electrically conducting fluid from a very large reservoir in the presence of electric and magnetic fields is studied. An attempt is made to use the Chaplygin hodograph method, which involves coordinate transformations linearizing the stream function equations, but not affecting the linearity of the electromagnetic equations. The complicating feature of magnetohydro dynamics is that a large system of equations must be dealt with. Also the addition of electromagnetic equations cause a general system to be overspecified. An attempt is made to solve a specific example by an iteration process based on Chaplygin's solution to the jet problem in ordinary gas dynamics. In conjunction with this iteration a thorough discussion of the boundary conditions is given. The complete procedure for the transformation of the solution back to the physical plane is outlined.
