FISSION COUNTER NEUTRON PULSE AND CIRCUIT ELEMENT CHARACTERISTICS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4802507
The signal characteristics and electrical parameters of a typical fission counter were investigated at 0, 130, and 40,000 nv neutron flux. The investigation and analysis covered many properties such as randomness, self- alpha, pulse shape, pulse height, pulse pile-up, pulse simulation, and neutron effect on counter capacity. Both photographic and statistical techniques were employed in making the measurements. Equivalent circuit techniques were used in the analysis of the counter operation. Recommendations are made for the counter input circuit design. (auth)
