FACTORIZATION OF COUPLING TO REGGE POLES

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
Application of the Regge-pole hypothesis to relativistic two-body interactions is discussed. Position of the pole in the complex angular plane and coupling strength of the Regge trajectory to the particles involved are considered. Position is a characteristic of the reaction quantum numbers, but coupling strength may vary despite constant values of quantum numbers. It is argued that the factorization is valid all along the Regge trajectory. An example involving the Schrodinger equation is given. The Regge pole formalism, which rests entirely on conjecture for the relativistic problem, may require modifications for systems with important anomalous thresholds. (L.N.N.)
