Inconsistencies observed in bremsstrahlung energy measurements made by transition curve and calorimetric methods are analyzed. It was found that for light elements these inconsistencies are related to radioactive losses of the absorber and the energy used in photonuclear reaction For large-Z elements, errors result from incorrect evaluations of ionization losses by electron side scattering. The results of measurements made with a special extrapolation chamber, considering corrections for radiative and photonuclear reaction losses, are in good agreement with calorimetric data. (R.V.J.)
