SEPARATION OF IRRADIATED SAMARIUM FROM RADIOACTIVE RARE EARTH ELEMENTS BY ELECTROLYSIS WITH MERCURY CATHODE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Radiokhimiya (U.S.S.R.) For English translation see Sov. Radiochem. (Engl. Transl.)
OSTI ID:4800679
The effects oi cathode current density, length of electrolysis, concentration of samarium, and the properties of the alkali metal on samarium yield at a mercury cathode wwere studied, and optimum conditions for quantitative Sm (up 99.7%) separation (within one hour) were found. The transport of Pm and Ce at high current densities (<75 mu /cm/sup 2/) was also analyzed. (R.V.J.)
