CALORIMETRIC GAMMA FLUX MEASUREMENTS AT THE RESEARCH REACTOR MUNICH (in German)

The gamma heat of an aluminum rod cooled at one end was determined at various positions in the radiation field of the Munich Research Reactor. The gamma energy absorbed per gram could be investigated by measuring the temperature distribution along the rod by means of the thermal conductivity of the material. The value of the gamma flux in roentgen/hr was calculated. At a reactor power of 1 Mw, gamma flux in the central position in the core was 2.4 x 10/sup 8/ r/hr, and in the reflector 1.0 x 10/sup 8/ r/hr. The results corresponded well with the values measured for a similar reactor type and calculated for a simplified model. (auth)
