RESONANCE CAPTURE $gamma$ RAYS FROM PLATINUM

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
OSTI ID:4800505

The high-energy gamma rays following neutron capture in a platinum target are studied using a fast chopper facility. The transitions to the 0/sup +/ ground state and the first two excited 2/sup +/ states in Pt/sup 196/ are measured for 15 resonances from 11.9 to 296 ev. Relative transition probabi1ities for these cases are determined and compared to the chi-squared class of probability distribution functions. (auth)
