SCATTERING OF THERMAL NEUTRONS ON CH$sub 3$NH$sub 2$ MOLECULES IN THE LIQUID STATE

The total effective cross section of methylamine molecules in the liquid state with respect to thermal neutron scattering was measured from 10 to 280 Mev and at three sample temperatures. The effective cross sections were found to be independent of the temperature, but to depend on inelastic neutron scattering related to excitation of several close-lying vibrational states of the molecule.
