SECTION NbC-C OF THE DIAGRAM OF THE NIOBIUM-CARBON SYSTEM (in Ukrainian)

The methods of metallographic investigation and determination of the melting points of NbC-C alloys made by hot pressing of mixtures of niobium carbide and anthracene soot at 2950 to 2980 deg C were used to study the interaction of the components and to construct a tentative diagram of the niobium- -carbon system. It was established that the eutectic melting point lies between 2950 and 3000 deg and the eutectic point between 10 and 20 mol% C. (auth)
