THE DECAY SCHEME OF 39.3 h Es$sup 25$$sup 4$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The betc decay of Es/sup 254/ was studied using gamma-gamma and beta- gamma scintillation coincidence techniques and a double-lens beta-ray spectrometer. Transitions of 103.5 plus or minus 1, 544 plus or minus 5, 583 plus or minus 3, 648 plus or minus 2 and 692 plus or minus 2 kev were placed in a level scheme of Fm/sup 254/ with levels at 44 plus or minus 3(2+, 0), 148 plus or minus spectra of 475 plus or minus + 5(75%) and 1127 plus or minus 2(25%) kev were observed, The observation of the (2+, 2) gamma-vibrational state at 692 kev in Fm/sup 254/ indicates a sharp decrease in the gamma vibrational energy after 152 neutions. A half-life of 39.3 plus or minus 0.2h was obtained for the Es/sup 253/ beta emitter. Transitions of 93 plus or minus 2, 377 plus or minus 3, 387 plus or minus 1 and 427 plus or minus + 3kev were observed from the alpha decay of Es/sup 253/. (auth)
