The applicability of the Serber --Goldenberg model for calculation of intranuclear cascades on light nuclei is considered. Some features of light nuclei which may significantly affect the calculations are discussed. The following factors are taken into account in the calculation of a cascade in a carbon nucleus: collisions of nucleons with alpha type substructures; variation of the density of nuclear matter from the center of the nucleus to its periphery; momentum distribution of nucleons in light nuclei; and processes involving meson production. Comparison of calculations and experimental data yields agreement. (auth)
