PM-1 NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROGRAM. Sixth Quarterly Progress Report, June 1, 1960 to August 31, 1960
Progress is reported in the final design modifications, fabrication of plant components, reactor development efforts, and at-site construction work on the PM-1 prepackaged, air-transportable, pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. The dummy core for gross flow and refueling tests was completed and final preparations were made for the fabrication of the PM-1 power core. Reactor development work included completion of the major portions of the flexible zero- power test experimental program, continuation of the SM-1 and WTR PM-1 fuel element irradiation programs, continuation and completion of major portions of the reactor flow and heat transfer tests, development work on rare earth control rods and power core fabrication, testing, redesign, and completion of the life and reliability tests for the prototype magnetic jack-tpye control rod actuator, and testing, redesign, and completion of the life and reliability tests for the prototype magnetic jack-type control rod actuator.
