Covariant Polarization Analysis of Spin 1 Particles

Journal Article · · Proceedings of the Royal Society. A. Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences

A covariant theory of polarization analysis of spin 1 particles is developed. The 16-dimensional covariant scattering equation is reduced to the three-dimensional scattering equation. Lorentz transformations and space rotations giving rise to relativistic corrections (when the scattering theory is applied to multiple scattering experiments) are obtained. These are found to be the same as those obtained for spin 1/2 particles. The spin and energy projection operators for the covariant theory are obtained, and a covariant density matrix for spin 1 particles'' is defined. (auth)
