BRANCHING RATIO IN THE DECAY OF K$sup 4$$sup 2$

Journal Article · · Acta Radiologica (Sweden) Divided into Acta Radiol.: Ther., Phys., Biol. and Acta Radiol., Diagn.

The beta spectrum of K/sup 42/ was investigated and it was found that (17.9 plus or minus 0.5)% of the beta disintegrations are accompanied by a gamma transition in Ca/sup 42/ with an energy of 1.5 Mev. An anthracene scintillation spectrometer was used as beta detector and operated in coincidence with a sodium iodide scintillation spectrometer in determining the number of beta particles in coincidence with gamma rays.
