CONCEPTION ET MISE EN OEUVRE D'UNE MACHINE A TRIER LE LINGE EN FONCTION DE SA CONTAMINATION PAR DES PRODUITS RADIOACTIFS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4795901
At the Marcoule Plutonium Production Center special clothing is worn in the active zones. A large fraction of these clothes is contaminated and must be subjected to specialized treatments during washing in order to be reworn without danger. Because of the large amount of clothes to be treated, it became necessary to install a special semi-automatic washing machine; the role of the operator is limited to placing the clothing in the machine and to removing the baskets of sonted clothes. The machine was designed to be used with a sorting method which is based on BETA radiation and in which Geiger counters actuate an appropriate electronic system depending on the various degrees of contamination of the treated clothing.
