Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento

A theoretical approach based on the postulate that the laws of nature must be described in terms of field variables associated only with elementary interactions is presented in the development of a self-consistent field theory of quantum electrodynamics. Maxwell's equations are presented in spinor form. A self-consistent field theory is discussed in terms of the principle of least action, field equations, and the continuity condition. The Pauli exclusion principle is considered. Positronium and pair annihilationcreation process are presented in terms of field equation solutions and the energy and momentum of positronium in the annihilation state. The Lamb shift and the field equation linearizations of the hydrogen spectrum are discussed.
