The R/sub F/ values of Pu(III), Pu(IV), Pu(VI), and Am(IH) were determined by means of partition chromatography with mixtures of n-butanol-HNO3 (I: I) in which the molarity of the HNO/sub 3/ was varied. These R/sub F/ values were compared with those of other elements (U(VI), Th(lV), and some rare earth elements) in the same mixtures of n-butanol-HNO/sub 3/ (l: I). The results obtained show that there are possibilities for the analytical separation of vartous mixtures of the elements investigated. An example of the separatton of Am(III)- Pu(Vl) is given. (auth)
