Title: A DYNAMICAL EQUATION FOR THE JOST FUNCTION

By means of on-shell calculations for potential scattering, an integral representation is found for the Jost function F( lambda ,k), which displays analytic properties in both the angular momentum l = lambda -- 1/2 and the energy s=k/sup 2/. Further, an integral equation is found for the spectral function contained in the representation of F( lambda ,k). The calculations are carried out with the aid of suggestions from the first Born approximation. (T.F.H.)
