HEXAGONAL NETWORKS OF LINEAR IMPERFECTIONS IN SINGLE CRYSTALS OF CADMIUM

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4793991
The formation and properties of a type of hexagonal net work in thin crystals of cadmiumm are described. The networks appear almost immediately after the disappearance of vacancy-type loops introduced by bombarding the crystals with negative ions in the electron microscope. They lie in basal planes and the directions of the three sets of intersecting lines are parallel to the (--1100) directions in the planes. Mobile specks which are attributed to clusters of interstitial atoms were also observed. (auth)
