AURORA AND AIRGLOW

Journal Article · · Astronautics
OSTI ID:4793251
The use of measurements on aurorae and day, night, and twilight airglows, as a means for studying the atmosphere, the geomagnetic fields, the trapped-radiation belts, and the mechanisms of the aurorae and airglows themselves, is discussed. Features of the auroral spectra are outlined, and the auroral and day, night, and twilight airglow emission intensities are compared. (T.F.H.)
