THE AGN 201 "COSTANZA" REACTOR AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF AUTOMATION (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Ing. nucleare
OSTI ID:4792898
A schematic description of the AGN 201 reactor of the University of Palermo is given with emphasis on the educational advantages offered by a zero power reactor. The philosophy of automation in the design of reactors is illustrated. A brief description of the methods used for the operation of safety and control rods is given. The scram device is illustrated, and the various causes precipitating reactor shutdowns are tabulated. The nuclear fuse used as the ultimate safety device is designed to shutdown the reactor without regard to any other instrument. (J.S.R.)
