INTEGRAL EQUATIONS FOR THE LOW-ENERGY PION-PION SCATTERING

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
S>Integral equations for S and P amplitudes in pi - pi scattering are derived from a single-dispersion relation and its Taylor-series expansion in the forward and backward directions. It is shown that the same integral equations could also be obtained from the dispersion relation for fixed partial waves. In this derivation it is necessary to make further approximations besides keeping only S- and P-waves on the unphysical cut. Accuracy comparisons of the two methods of approximation are made, and it is concluded that, for certain cases at least, the approach using fixed partial waves is likely to yield better results.
