EFFECTIVE SURFACE AREA IN RESONANCE INTEGRAL CALCULATION FOR FUEL CLUSTER

In resonance integral calculations for a fuel-rod cluster, the rubber- band-surface method is frequently used for calculating its effective surface area. This method, however, is not theoretically rigorous. The Dancoff correction is derived, using the narrow and wide approximations. The surface area derived by the rubber-band-surface method is compared with that derived by the Dancoff correction method. A method for calculating the effective surface area for the cluster, which is in agreement with the Dancoff-correction method, is suggested. (auth)
