EXCITATIONS OF TWO-PHONON SURFACE VIBRATIONS IN NUCLEI

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The features of inelastic scattering leading to two-phonon surface vibrations were examined in the Born approximation. Comparison is made with results of inelastic alpha scattering experiments on spherical nuclei. Agreement is found Between parameters derived from these experiments and Coulomb excitation. The comparisons were carried out in a relatively model-independent way. (auth)
