A study of the alga Cystoseira barbata was made to determine its capacity to absorb various radioisotopes from sea water and collect data on the content of radioactive products in these algae from the Adriatic and Black Seas. 1959 tests revealed a radioactivity of 3 to 5 times the normal level, with no differences between the two seas. Tests in 1960 revealed a return to normal levels (at least for cerium-l44 and praseodymium-l44). (OTS)
