The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration`s (NOAA) Environmental Technology Laboratory (ETL) demonstrated its latest remote sensing capabilities during the 1995 Mojave Desert Ozone Transport Study. The objective was to better quantify the flux of ozone into the Mojave Desert by combining wind data from the ETL`s System Demonstration and Integration Division`s newly developed 449-MHz wind profiler with ozone concentration data from a 2-dimensional, vertically-scanning ozone lidar developed by ETL`s Atmospheric Lidar Division. The ozone lidar staff will combine the high spatial and temporal resolution wind data from this report with ozone profiles to calculate vertical profiles of ozone flux. Surface measurements of temperature, relative humidity, pressure, and wind speed and direction were also made to supplement the profiler data in the lowest levels.
