Information and recommendations concerning protective coatings for sheet alloys of Mo, Nb, Ta, and W are presented. These protective coatings are being developed to meet requirements of the sheet rolling program. It is noted that there are so few data available on properties of coatings that a coating cannot be recommended for use in the sheet rolling program. The coating panel plans to formulate criteria against which coatings can be evaluated, and developers will be invited to disclose the performance of their coatings against the criteria established.
