SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC RECORDING OF NUCLEAR DATA

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instr. & Methods
Described is a system which permits data to be recorded simultaneously on nine scaler units each composed of from iour to seven decade scaling strips. Data from the last four scaling strips in each of the scaler units are periodically punched (and printed) on I.B.M. cards for direct presentation to an electronic digital computer. The scaler units with seven scaling strips are capable of recording data at the rate of 106 events per second while the scaler units with four scaling strips may record data at 105 events per second. Data punch-out'' time for the nine scaler units may be made as small as 10 sec. Also described is a method whereby the system may be expanded to punch-out readings from l up to 25 scaler units. Each scaler unit may comprise any desired number of scaling strips from which the readings on up to the last ten scaiing strips may be recorded. (auth)
