A PRESSURE-COMPOSITION-TEMPERATURE STUDY OF THE ZIRCONIUM-HYDROGEN SYSTEM AT HIGH HYDROGEN CONTENTS

Journal Article · · J. Nuclear Materials
In order to elucidate the phase diagram of the zirconiumhydrogen system at high hydrogen contents, a pressurecomposition-temperature study in the temperature range 500 to 850 deg C was carried out. From the isotherms obtained, the position of the boundary between the two-phase ( beta + delta ) region and the single phase delta region was more precisely defined ( beta designates the hydrogen stabilized high temperature zirconium phase, and delta , the cubic hydride phase). The isotherms also showed the existence of a two-phase hydride region (cubic and tetragonal hydride co-existing) at elevated temperatures as has been observed at room temperature. (auth)
