Influence of High Doses of X-radiation on 5-hydroxytryptamine in the Brain of Rats

Journal Article · · International Journal of Radiation Biology and Related Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine
Doses of 8,000 and 12,000 r significantly increased the 5- hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) content of the brains of rats. Doses of 4,000 r did not elicit any change in 5-HT content. The effects of 5-HT on the function of the central nervous system and the mechanism of the increase of 5-HT after large doses of radiation are reported under investigation.
