METHOD FOR PREPARING GRANULAR GELS

A method is outlined for preparing granular gels of Zr phosphate and other insoluble inorganic salts for ion exchange applications. The method comprises mixing together solutions of the cations and the anions to form an insoluble gel, fiocculating the gel, and drying the gel. Examples of the method are given for the preparation of Zr phosphate, Zr arsenate, Zr tungstate, Zr molybdate, Th phosphate, Th tungstate, Th molybdate, Ti phosphate, hydrous Zr oxide, and hydrous Th oxide.
