The synthesis and electrochemistry of quinone-type methanofullerenes is discussed. The substitution pattern of the cyclohexanedienone moiety on the fullerene permits tuning of the reduction potential of the fullerene. Lowest energy conformar structures for these substituted fullerenes are discussed.
