THE ABSOLUTE CROSS SECTIONS FOR THE Na$sup 23$(n,/cap alpha/) AND I$sup 1270$(n,*cap alpha) REACTIONS AT 14 Mev
The absolute cross sections for the Na 3(n alpha )F/sup 20/ and (n, alpha )Sb/sup 124/ reactions are measured at 14 Mev neutron energy. The alpha particles produced in a Nal crystal were directiy counted by a pulse shape discrimination method. The neutron flux was measured with a standard proton recoil monitor. The cross sections values obtained are 147 plus or minus 18 mb for the Na23(n, alpha )F/sup 20/ reaction and 1.39 plus or minus 0.17 mb for the I/sup 127/(n, alpha )Sb/sup 128/ reaction. (auth)
