Construction of a Cockcroft-Walton type cascade accelerator for production of 200-kev deuterons is reported. The accelerator was built to obtain 14-Mev neutrons from the D(T,n)He/sup 4/ reaction. A D/sup +/ beam from the r-f ion source is focused by an electrostatic lens system at 4.5 m. The ion current under optimum conditions reaches 1 ma. (J.R.D.)
