The review stands on the database provided by the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) according to the same set of search keywords. One important change is that the subject of ion-selective electrodes is not included in this review. Again, only the original articles written in English are included in the database. The exceptions are published literature reviews-those containing more than 20 to 30 references are cited regardless of the language in which they are written. The abstracting period covered by this review extends from January 1, 1990, until December 31, 1991. Over 1800 references have been incorporated into this review, in exact proportion to the numbers in the raw database, which contained over 2000 entries. 1392 refs.
