STUDY ON PROTECTIVE CHEMICAL AGENTS FOR X-IRRADIATED ANIMALS, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO EFFECT OF ETHANOL

Journal Article · · Nagasaki Igakkai Zasshi (Japan)

Considerable increase in the survival rate of mice resulted when ethanol was given prior to x irradiation of 700 r. The same effect resulted when ipsilon (anti-plasmic agent) was given. The administration of ethanol before x irradiation was effective for regeneration in leukopenia due to radiation. However, no effect was seen in the blood from ethanol administration following x irradiation. (Abstr. Japan Med., 2, No. 2, Feb. 1962)
