The theory of control in reactors is discussed. A method for replacing tranmsport theory by an equivalent diffusion theory is discussed. Boundary conditions on pure absorbers in a diffusion theory medium are developed for various geometries. Available methods are used to calculite control worth. The results are compared with an extensive set of measured values of worth and the degree of accuracy of the calculated values is exhibited. In this comparison a variety of control element types in a variety of reactor lattices is considered. (auth)
