THE DECAY OF $sup 29$P

Journal Article · · Phys. Norvegica
OSTI ID:4783642

The gamma spectrum accompanying the positron decay of P was measured. The following branching ratios were found (log ft values in parenthesis): to the ground state of Si/sup 29/ 0.984 plus or minus 0.003 (3.72 plus or minus 0.02), to the 1.28 Mev level 0.011 plus or minus 0.003 (4.93 plus or minus 0.14), to the 2.03 Mev level < 0.0007 (>5.5), and to the 2.43 Mev level 0.0055 plus or minus 0.002 (4.15 plus or minus 0.2). The intensities of the gamma transitions from the 2.43 Mev level to the levels at 1.28 and 2.03 Mev are less than 66 and 20%, respectively of the ground state transition. The results are in disagreement with published predictions on the basis of a rotational collective model. (auth)
